How we do kitchen cabinets
Most of what decides whether a kitchen holds up is inside the cabinet, where nobody looks. Ours are built with plywood sides, backs and bottoms instead of particleboard, so the boxes stay square and the doors keep lining up years later.
George measures the room himself and draws the layout before anything is ordered. You get a rendering of your kitchen with the door style and finish you picked, and you can move things around until it works for how you cook.
Plywood boxes
Sides, back and bottom in plywood, which holds screws and shrugs off the occasional leak better than particleboard.
Dovetail drawers
Dovetailed corners on full-extension glides, so you can reach the back of the drawer as easily as the front.
Soft-close doors
Hinges with six-way adjustment. The crew dials in every gap on site until the run reads as one line.
A layout first
A rendering of your own room before you order, with the door style and color you chose.
Kitchen cabinets for Cedar Grove homes
Cedar Grove is north of Verona and Montclair, with Mills Reservation up on the First Mountain ridge. Much of the township was built out after the war, so ranches, split-levels and colonials make up most of its streets.
A lot of ranches, capes and split-levels still have the cabinets they were built with, or a 1990s replacement hung on the same layout. Swapping the boxes is a good time to rethink the room: a wall that can take tall pantry units, an island where the table used to go, or drawers in place of deep base shelves.
